Palmerston North Bowlers To Visit California

Four bowlers from Palmerston North, Messrs. J. Boniface, D. Morris/ J. J. O’Shea and A. S. Bayliss, are to leave on August 8 for California, where they will participate in a world open tournament to be held at San Francisco from September 4 te September 16, arranged in connection with the Exposition and bridge openings. Rinks, triples, pairs and singles sec tions will be played during the tourna ment and it is interesting to note that Mr. Norman R. Tierce, who was former ly a resident in Palmerston North, being connected with the Department of Agriculture, and who played bowls at

the Terrace End Club, is the representative of the Californian Bowling Association in New Zealand and Australia. Mr. Pierce now lives in Hobart, Tasmania, and in conjunction with the Californian Bowling Association he has arranged a comprehensive itinerary tour for bowlers making the trip. Visits to Suva, Honolulu, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Hollywood, Los Angeles and Mexico are included in the tour.
