An anti-cyclone still extends across the north Tasman to beyond northern New Zealand, but pressure is relatively low in the south and westerly type of weather persists. Winds: Moderate to strong south-west to westerly winds, reaching gale force at times in some exposed positions and later turning to north-westerly in places. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough on the West Coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-west to westerly winds. Seas rather rough to rough. Weather: Mainly fair in eastern districts and cloudy to overcast in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south, with occasional rain. Temperatures moderate to mild.
