Hewitt (patron), F. E. Ward and H. Cotter (senior members) and a good attendance of members. After correspondence had been read and received, Messrs George Cotter and I. Algie (club delegates) spoke briefly on the Wairarapa District Committee meeting held in Masterton during the day. The chairman (Mr. George Cotter) read the results of the judging competitions held at the Wairarapa Training Farm recently and mentioned that the Mangatainoka club held the same position as last year in gaining third place in the group section. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. J. Hutton for the use of the council chambers. The club’s sympathy went out to Mr. J. Campbell in his recent illness, members wishing him a speedy recovery. After general business had been disposed of, the chairman introduced Mr. B. A. C. Tennent, of the Massey College, Palmerston North, who gave a talk on wool research, which proved very interesting and instructive to all present.

Mr. Tennent had with him a wellarranged set of lantern slides showing clearly the growth of wool at different periods, hairiness, aud parts of fleece in which hair was to be found. The speaker also gave a brief description of fleece testing in benzol, describing how hair was defined from wool. At the conclusion of Mr. Tennent’s talk a general discussion took place, and he answered the many questions put to him in a very able manner. Mr. George Cotter thanked Mr. Tennent for his very fine talk and assured him that the club members had gained a lot of valuable information from him.
