Shooting on Polish Frontier

German Polish Subject Wounded by Guard

BITTER PRESS DUEL United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Saturday, 12.50 a.m. WARSAW, May 12. A frontier guard shot and wounded a German Polish subject who was crossing the river in a boat at Posnama. A Polish ferryman was killed. The Polish News Agency’s version of the shooting of the German Polish subject states that the German was wounded by a Polish border guard near Posen when a notorious smuggler was rowing him across the river dividing Germany from Poland. The smuggler was shot dead. It is understood that the German was crossing into the Reich at the invitation of a Nazi recruiting agent, when the sentry called “Halt!” German and Polish press campaigns accusing each other of atrocities against minorities are in full blast.
