Cosy Theatre, Woodville

WEEK-END ATTRACTION “WAY OUT WEST” Laurel and Hardy wild and woolly in their first western- —the Hal RoachM.G.M. feature-length comedy, “Way Out West,” which screens at the Cosy, Woodville, this afternoon and to-night. It might bo described as the “Daze of the Gay 90’s” as the inimitable antics and laughter-getting proclivities of the international lean and fat duo are unreeled in those thrilling and glamorous pioneer days. As “tenderheel” desert prospectors going to town for a good deed in delivering a deed of a gold mine to tho daughter of a dead miner, Laurel and Hardy commit so many misdeeds that it was surprising, indeed, that they were not shot in all tho adventures they encountered. But they blunder their way to ultimate success in foiling the honky tonk queen, the scheming proprietor, the sheriff and all the tough hombres. “Way Out West** is presented for laughs, and gets them to the tune of the music and songs that were so popular at the turn of the century. Those perennial purveyors of fun—Laurel and Hardy—score their greatest triumph. Bright new gags are topped only when they swing into a dance and burst forth in song in uproariously humorous sequences. Supporting players meriting notice are Sharon Lynne, James Finlaysou, Rosina Lawrence, Stanley Fields and the Avalon Four. And there’s “Dinah,” a 17-ycar-old burro, who kicks up a lot of laughs.
