New Zealand Athletic Records
RECOGNITION GRANTED BY CONTROLLING BOARD Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Applications for recognition of performances as New Zealand records were dealt with by the Council of the Athletic Association to-night. The records granted were:—F. F. Bharpley, 220yds. hurdles, 25 1-Ssecs., on March 11 and 24 4-ssecs., on March 18; Miss It. Tong, SO metres hurdles, 12 3-ssecs., March IS; Miss E. Somers, shot put, 30ft. 4in., March 11; M. Smeeton (Auckland) junior high jump, sft. 7in., and junior shot put, 37ft. OJin., March 11; Miss D. Lumley, 100yds., llsecs. Recognised as best New Zealanders’ performances: Miss M. Mitchell, javelin thrown, 117 ft. 4in., March 11; Miss B. Forbes, high jump, sft. OJin., March 11. Canterbury applications on behalf of C. R. Bradwell, 220yds. hurdles, 25 l-osecs., on February 18, and W. Christensen, 440yds. junior, 51 2-ssecs., on February 18 were declined through absence of certificates.
An application by Miss Decima Norman, 220yds., 26 2-ssecs., on March 11, was referred back for the starter’s signature.
