An Auckland man who has had some experience of running art unions to raise small amounts for sports and social bodies recently recalled one of the most amusing experiences he has encountered. The prizes in this particular lottery were bottles of whisky and he sold three of the winning tickets, which were won by “Mother,” “Faith, Hope and Charity,’” and a citizen belonging to an institution renowned for its antipathy to liquor. He did not refer to the reactions of the winners.
