From Our Own Correspondent. Mr and Mrs C. Daley are on holiday at Cambridge. Master David Bolstad is touring the North Island with relations.
Mr C. Trimmer, of Wellington, is spending the Christmas holidays with his daughter, Mrs G. Bignal. Mrs A. Rizzi, of the South Island, and Mrs H. Newbury, of Wellington, are the guests of their father, Mr W. Parr. Mr B. Wilton, of Wellington, is the guest of Mr and Mrs H. Wilton. Messrs J. Carrol, H. Goss and P. Ryan were the guests of Mr and Mrs S. Carrol during the week-end. A grand dance, in aid of the Palmerston North Free Ambulance, was held on Boxing Night. Extras were played by Miss B. Wollerman and Miss Marie Morgan. Competitions were won by Miss L. Waghorn and Mr F. Anderson, and the Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss G. Greggory and Mr C. Bird. Among those present were Mesdames H. Parr, black lace; A. Wilton, black satin; M. Corlett, black floral crepe; J. Kelly, white lace; R. Kelly, black marocain; K. Hislop, red satin; F. Tantrum, black satin; A. Lindsay, apricot crepe de chine; M. West, green crepe; G. Jennings, black crepe; M. Carrol, floral voile; C. Williams, pink taffeta; Misses D. Gyde, navy; B. McNeil, pink floral; M. Sherlock, black; K. Campbell, floral voile; B. Sherlock, green marocain; M. Atkinson, pink cfepe; G. Schwass green; K. Sherlock, pink floral taffeta; B. Corlett, lemon crepe; D. Atkinson, green crepe; A. Anderson, mauve georgette; J. Corlett, black satin; M. Pope, green voile; K. Johnson, black floral; B. Wollerman, blue floral voile. A happy evening was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs F. Gyde recently, when a party was held for the coming of age of their eldest daughter, Doris. Mrs Gyde received her guests wearing a wine costume. The guest of honour wore a black pin-stripe costume. The evening was spent in dancing, games and competitions. The birthday cake was made and iced by Mrs Gyde. Miss Gyde received a fur from her parents and numerous other gifts. Among those present were Mesdames G. Wenham, C. Cron (Palmerston North), C. Osman, H. Parr; Misses E. Wenman, M. Morgan; Messrs T. Kelly, B. Wilton, C. Osman, H. Mason, L. Triggell, R. Gyde, J. Fowler.
ley. Miss L. Morris, who was elected "Miss New Zealand" in a recent beauty ; contest, was amongst those present. Two tap dances by Mr Ted Shortt were well well received. Winners of the various competitions were: Monte Carlo, Miss Lrwin and Mr Parr; lucky spot waltz, Miss L. Carter and Mr R. Taylor; Gay Gordons, Miss J. Morris and Mr B. Maxton; Christmas cake, Mrs C. Vendore; hamper, Mr R. Sollitt. Church Services. Church services at the week-end were well attended. Rev. E. Burgm officiated at the Holy Communion service in the morning and Rev. R. Grice conducted the evening service.
