Mr Hamilton Confident
“SERIOUSNESS OF ISSUE WILL TURN THE SCALES” Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. “The seriousness of the issue the olectors are asked to decide will turn the scales in our favour,” said Hon. A. Hamilton, leader of the National Party, last night in discussing his party’s prospects. “ Conditions throughout tho Wallace electorate are more favourable than they have ever been,” he stated. “I have been delighted to see Mr. Savage and so many Cabinet Ministers paying Southland a visit, but they have very little chance of affecting the election and I am carrying on my campaign with the utmost confidence,” Mr. Hamilton remarked. Ho said he would finish his campaign at tho end of the week, when he would leave for the north and it would be in the full confidence that his electorate would return him. “The prospects for New Zealand arc moro in our favour than in the favour of the Labour Party,” he continued. “I know tho mind of the electors. The thorough organisation we have and the fine type of candidate the National Party has standing and also the seriousness of the issue tb? electors will bo asked to decide, will turn the scales in our favour. I am confident of that. The very fact that so many Cabinet Miristers are scuttling about New Zealand shows the anxiety in their minds about the result of the coming poll. lam almost half way through the campagin of my own electorate, Wallace, and the atmosphere has been splendid and reflects the attitude of almost all the electorates,” he added.
