Notes of the Day

Yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secretary in charge of State Housing, arrived in Feilding from Taihape and was met by the local representatives of the Labour Party and later proceeded to inspect the State houses in East Street erected on the Carthew Estate property. He also visited the work now proceeding on Stato houses in Lytton Street. Wind approaching gale force was experienced in Feilding yesterday. The morning broke threatening rain but as the wind increased all signs of rain departed and the afternoon was fine but the wind was extremely unpleasant. Seven building permits were issued in Feilding during September for work valued at £3355. Of these three were for new dwellings.

During his stay in Feilding, Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secretary, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Collins, of Denbigh Street.
