Banditry in Palestine
PROMINENT CITIZENS AMBUSHED United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—-Copyrlgnt. Received Wednesday, 7.30 p.m. JERUSALEM, Sept. 7. Despite a bodyguard, bandits ambushed between Haifa and Tclaviv a car containing a businessman, Yeckiel, brother of the Zionist leader, Doctor Chaim Wcizmann, puncturing tho tyres with bullets and causing tho car to overturn. The bandits then riddled it with bullets, killing the son of a leading lawyer and wounding all other occupants. Bandits in ambush fired on a cartful of workers going home at Nessziona, killing a newly-arrived migrant and seriously wounding two other Jews and a girl. BRITISH REGIMENT ENGAGES LARGE FORCE TWO SOLDIERS KILLED IN EXPLOSION Received Thursday, 12.10 a.m. JERUSALEM, Sept. 7. Two British soldiers were killed and four seriously injured in a landmine explosion under a military truck near the Syrian frontier. The Manchester Regiment is engaged with largo forces of Arabs north of Acre. Bombing planes arc ingAn armed gang raided tho police station at Jaffa, held up the guard and carried off rifles and revolvers.
