Physical Training For Army Recruits

(British Official Wireless.) Received Wednesday, 6.30 p.m. RUGBY, Sept. 6. Soldiers who have passed from the two recruits' physical development depots to their regimental depots now number 1001. This passing of the thousand mark in about 16 months crown* tho success of tho enterprising War Office experiment. The object at the Aldershot and Scarborough depots is to take as probationer recruits men who are not up to the standard of weight or chest and men on tho borderline with defects which might or might not be sufficiently bad jto keep them out of the Army but i which could possibly bo treated and cured in a short while.
