Women Police for New Zealand

AUTHORITY FOR APPOINTMENT IN NEW BILL Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Authority for the appointment of women police is given in the Statutes Amendment Bill introduced in the House to-day. This is in accordance with a projuise givon some time ago to a deputation of women by the Minister in charge of the Police Department (Hon. P. Fraser). A relevant clause in the Bill states that the powers conferred by the Police Force Act for the appointment of members of the Police Force, including temporary members, are extended so as to include power to appoint women to be members Of the force and to give thorn full authority under the original Act.
