Fascist Coup in Chile Suppressed

PROGRAMME BORROWED FROM GERMANY United Press Association. —By Electrlo Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 10. F p.in. SANTIAGO (Chile) Sept. 5. A Fascist uprising was put down after four hours ' fighting in which artillery and machinc-gun fire threw the city into panic. The Young Chilean Nacistas in a surprise attack seized the University and tho 10-storey Workers’ Assurance building commanding tho Presidential Palace. Carabineers faced a blaze of revolver fire but after the artillery hail broken down the doors the majority of tho Nacistas surrendered, more than 80 being arrested, including General Carlos Ibanez, the Nacista candidate for the Presidential elections on October 25.
The Nacistas urged a programme borrowed from the German Nazis. Tho Government announced that 58 were killed.
