MAEIMA WIN JUNIOR COWAN CUP The contest between Marima and Xireaha for the junior Cowan Cup was played on Kugby Park, Pahiatua, on .Saturday when Marima proved the winners, the scores being Marima 13, Nireaha 8. For the victors, K. Elliot* scored two tries and G. Eddie one, JMahar converting two. Nireaha's points consisted of a converted try ana a penalty goal. Mr. C. Skilton refereed. BUSH THIRD GRADE BEAT DANNEVTRKE Last Saturday a Bush third grade Rugby team in charge of Mr. F. Staples journeyed to Dannevirke when after an interesting game Bush defeated Dannevirke by 10 points to three. Bush kicked off into the wind and carried play into the Dannevirke 25. For a while it looked as though Bush would score but Dannevirke were awarded a free kick and cleared well downfield. At this stage the game was mostly a forward one. From a line-out Dannevirke secured the ball and after a brilliant passing rush Hicky, tho Dannevirke wing, went over to scor« near the corner flag. The try was unconverted. Dannevirke three, Bush nil. Play was carried into Dannevirke territory where Bush were given a free kick, but Bicknell's kick failed. The half-time score was Dannevirke 3, Bush 0. , From the kick-off Bush began attacaI ing, but again Dannevirke secured the I ball and carried play into Bush’s 25, where the ball went out. The ban came back to the Bush backs where a dribbling rush was started. D. Webb, following up fast, gathered in the bak and after running over half the length of the field scored a brilliant try ten yards from the posts. With a good kick Fulton converted. Bush 5, Dannevirke 3. From now on the game was hard ana fast, but Bush were now getting the better of it. From a scrum five yards from the Dannevirke line, J. Beichenbach dived over to score for Bush Again A. Fulton converted to make the final score Bush 10, Dannevirke three.
