Normanby Wedding of District Interest

HEMINGWAY—FLINTOFF The Presbyterian Church, Normanby, was the scene of the wedding on Saturday, May 21, of Grace Eileen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Flintoff, Normanby, and Frederick Francis, only son of Mr and Mrs Hemingway, Marton. The Rev. W. H. Werin officiated and Mrs A. H. Hills played the wedding music. The church was decorated with seasonal blooms by Mesdames J. Meuli and E. J. Linn. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of rich white satin cut on classical lines to form a long sweeping train, while the sleeves fitted from elbow to wrist, where they formed points on thp back of the hands. Her billowing veil, which formed a second train, was of heavily embroidered silk net held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She also wore a triple string of pearls and carried a bouquet of roses and maidenhair fern. In attendance were three bridesmaids, Misses Edna Flintoff, sister of the bride, and E. and M. Hemingway, sister of the bridegroom, who were dressed alike iu apple green satin cut on slim-fitting lines to the knees, where the skirts fell in flares to the ground, while the bodices were draped and finished with a row of tiny buttons at tho back. The sleeves, very full at the shoulder, fitted from elbow to wrist and were also finished with tiny buttons. Sashes with large butterfly bows were also worn and each maid carried a bouquet of pink and cream rosebuds and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr O. Calkin, Marton, as best man and Messrs R. Flintoff jnr. and Le 3 Paul as groomsmen. As the bride left tho church her nephew, Jim Hicks, presented her with a horseshoe tied with white ribbons. Mr and Mrs Flintoff received about GO guests at the Rewa, Hawera. An iced cake made by the briide’s mother and iced by Mr Hoddle was cut. Mrs Flintoff wore a black and white ensemble and black velour hat and carried an autumn-tinted bouquet. Mrs Hemingway wore a brown tailored costume ana carried a posy of chrysanthemums. When the bride and bridegroom left on a tour of the north the bride travelled in a black coat and hat with accessories of the same shade. Mr and Mrs F. F. Hemingway will make their home at Tangarakau.
