MEN’S COMPETITION PLAY The second qualifying round for the club championships played last Saturday produced some viery good cards. J. G. Swainson was back to something like his old form in recording 79 off the stick, J. Richardson 80, B. Donald 82 and K. Eglintoa 82 also gave good accounts of themselves. The lastmentioned player has shown a marked improvement this season, having reduced his handicap from 18 to 11, in the course of which he has won six of the weekly competitions. Section play in the Day Cup and fourball competitions was concluded during the week-end and the following are the section winners and the order of play in the eliminating rounds:— Day Cup. Winner of I. C. Boyens and A. J. Morgan plays B. Donald. J. G. Swainson plays winner of W. H. Watson and W. L. Tattle. A. Donald plays L. Lovelock. W. G. Scott plays K. Eglinton. Fourball. B. Donald and L. Donald play R, H. Taylor and C. S. Carrad, J. Richardson and K. Lea play winner of L. T. Russell and W. L. Tattle and N. Judd and A. C. Timms. Last Saturday's medal round wus won by K. Eglinton (nett 69) in the A division, and T. Murphy (nett 66) in the B division. Handicap Reductions. K. Eglinton from 13-10 to 11-8. B. Donald 12-9 to 11-8. J. McKay 32-24 to 31-23. T. Murphy 32-24 to 29-22. P. Lloyd 26-20 to 25-19. A. Tait 27-20 to 25-19.
