From Our Own Correspondent There was a large attendance at th -* fortnightly euchre and dance. The prizewinners of the euchre tournament were" Ladies, Miss G. Schwamm 1, Mrs White 2; men, Mr L. Schwamm 1, Mr R. Purtou 2, Mr J. Cribb 3. Supper was followed b' a dance. Tho cake, donated, by Mrs 3 Linklater, was won by Mrs C. Richard son. Mr S. Death carried out the duties of M.C. The lucky seats were won by Miss J. Death and Mr Powell. Hosts and hostesses for the evening were Messrs S. Morris and S. Death and Mesdames S. Death and A. Hume. The music for the dance was played by Mr Len Smith. Members of the Newbury Euchra Club journeyed to Kelvin Grove to play lor the Country Clubs’ Shield. Kelvin Grove proved the winners by 13 games. Mr Buchanan welcomed the Newbury players, and Mr S. Death returned thanks and congratulated Kelvin Grove on agair winning the shield. Mr and Mrs H. Swainson and famil> have left the district and have taken up their residence at Lake i erry, Wairarapa

Mr Hansen has leased Mrs Swainson"s farm, and is welcomed to the district.

Mr and Mrs H. Cheetham have been holiday,ng in the Wellington district.

Miss Betty Linklater nas returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs H. Lovelock are spending a holiday in Nelson, visiting their sou, Martyn, at Nelson College.

Mrs E. A. Shaw has returned from Auckland aftc-r three weeks spent witu friends.

Mr and Mrs J. Cheetham are staying at their beach cottage at Paraparaumu.

Mrs J. Macauley nas returned from a holiday spent at Waverly.

Mr and Mrs Davies, who have leasee Mr G. N. Go wan’s farm, have taken up their residence.

There is still a lot of Influenza, measie* and whooping cough in the district, botii among adults and children. The cold wintry conditions prevailing for the last few weeks have been hard ou stock, especially young lambs, of whicthere are now quire a number to be seen on the different farms.

The season for the dairy farmers will soon be in lull swing, and judging by l+it numerous calf lorries seen there is evidence of an early season.
