Miss Bell Entertained At Feilding
With cheery log fires and gaily coloured flowers to dispel the gloom of a cold grey winter’s day the heme of Mr. and Mrs. H. V, Davies, of Denbigh street, looked Aery bright and attractive on Wednesday afternoon when, at the invitation of their daughters Peggy and Patty, a number of girl friends arrived to do honour to Miss Maisie Bell.
Miss Peggy was wearing vintage crepe silk, her sister a frock of floral ninon in blue toning. Miss Bell appeared in a smart black velvet frock finished at tho neck with a bunch of white grapes and a chic little hat to match. Beautiful pink Iceland poppies and pink eamelias had been used to ’deck the drawing-room where Chinese bridge -was X>laycd and the prizes were carried off |by Miss Dorothy Sargisson first and Miss Betty Eliott second.
I The pretty floral arrangements in the dining-room were effected with delicate pink-toned blooms and there delicious things to eat were enjoyed to the accompaniment of much laughter and merry chatter. Tn the course of proceedings Miss Bell, who is leaving this month to further her studies at the Academy of Drnamtie Art, London, was asked to ' accept a charming 1 lack braided evenling bag as a souvenir of remembrance from the gathering and Miss Peggy Davies, in making the presentation, wished her a happy journey to England and much success in tho future. The j recipient feelingly expressed her thanks and appreciation of tho gft. I The party was a really delightful one I those invited were Mesdames Alex • Ward, Owen Perry, Edmund Haro and 'Misses Betty Eliott, Janet Burnett, lP>eth Parkes, Marrio and Leonir Ireland (Palmerston North), Clare Ward | (Blenheim), Dorothy Sargisson, Ann I Caldwell, Norah Beattie, Margaret Luxmoore, Margaret Burrell and Dora Wild, j A very liappy party was given Miss Bell one afternoon last week by Miss [Beth Parkes at her home in Denbigh •street and several others are to take place in the near future. Mrs. David Bell is also being much feted and both she and her popular j daughter, when they leave “ Strathspry” for a long stay in England, will ibe greatly missed by a very wide circle cf friends.
