This choir has now been in active existence for 31 years, being known in former yoars as tho “Leidertafel,” aud during that time has seen mauy vicis-
situdes of fortune. At different stages in the life of tho choir tho membership has boon at a low ebb, but the last two or three years has seen somewhat of n revival of interest in this elass of singing and the society now has an aclive membership just short of thirty, permitting its energetic committee to arraugo wlrat it confidently hopes, will be the finest; concert of the year in Palmerston North. Tho choir is practising assiduously and a widely varied repertoire of numbers will bo presented. As is now expected from the choir, it has, as on previous occasions, obtained the services of the best assisting artists available, and iu addition to Alan Loveday himself, whose plaj’ing in itself is a sufficient inducement to ensure a crowded house, the guest artists include Miss Myra Sawyers, of Wellington, whoso beautiful voice is well known throughout tho country both through broadcasting and through successful public appearances iu most of tho towns of importance, and Mr. Russell G. Lauren son, also of Wellington, ■whose resonant bass-baritone voice and great acting ability are rapidly bringing him to the topmost peak amongst New Zealand singers. Everywhere he has sung ho has received wonderful Press reports and has been asked to come again. From Hie above it will be realised that early booking will be absolutely essential.
