Scout Notes

Friday, June 24, was the first meeting after the concert and the evening was spent in games* The inspection was won by the Kingfisher patrol. It was announced that there was to be a church parade on Sunday, the 26th. Next Friday is to be a ‘'Pound Night.” The troop was divided up for handball, and after several games dodge-ball was played. The troop was dismissed at 9 p.m. VISITORS TO PALMERSTON NORTH The Foxton Sea Scouts were visitors to Palmerston North for All Saints’ concert. On Thursday, June 30, the quarterly district Scouters’ meeting will be held at Dannevirke. Scouters are advised that the Dominion Commissioner for training, Mr. M. Cooksley, will bo present. STH TE AWE AWE At the commencement of the parade on Wednesday evening the usual flagbreak. and inspection followed, with a tug-of-war practice for the forthcoming competition. Troop instruction on general Scout work followed. Then came several games of handball, dodgeball and relay races. We were very fortunate in having the services of Mr. G. Alan, who is assisting our S.M.. K. v\rcbibald, late of the troop, came along for the evening, and P. Best successfully passed his Tenderfoot badge. BTH P.N. ST. PAUL’S TROOP Tho meeting opened with flag-break and inspection, after which the patrols went to their corners to practice Ist and 2nd class work, at which A.S.M. Looser took 2nd class signalling. After the patrol boxes had been put away the team selected for the handball competition played the rest of the troop. After this there was, a garno of gusto and the tug-of-war team was picked and tried out against the rest of tho troop and following this was dismissed, after which a court of honour was held. IST P.N. CENTRAL GROUP In the absence of the Scoutmaster the A.S.M. conducted the meeting. After inspection a few games were indulged iu. Work commenced in earnest with the rehearsal of the play. Practice games of tug-of-war and handball followed. We are pleased to hear that “Kim” is making a good recovery from his recent illness.
