More Rebel Bombing Raids

Republican planes raided Barcelona and villages and towns north of Valencia, killing fourteen and injuring many. The casualties in Gandia were eight killed and 24 injured. SUBMARINE ATTEMPTS TO REJOIN FLEET Received Sunday, 9.20 p.m. ST. NAZAIRE, June 18. The Spanish submarine C2 which h&s i been sheltering in France, has sailed for lan unknown destination. It is believed to be aiming to rejoin the Government fleet but it will be forced to run the insurgent blockade in tho Straits Of Gibraltar. LOYALISTS WILL NOT SURRENDER LACK OF TRAINED OFFICERS Received Monday, 1 a.m. MADRID, June 19. The Republican leader, Senor Negrin, in a broadcast said: 4 ‘Our soldiers retreat in tho face of irresistible force, but we will not surrender. One of tho principal reasons of our defeat is the lack of trained officers, but we are reorganising our commands and improving and multiplying our training schools. We have reserves which we will increase with efficient training.
