Maori Footballer Killed
DURING MATCH AT BULLS The third grade Rugby match between Bulls and Rata teams at Bulls on Saturday was marred by an accident which resulted in the death of a Maori member of the visiting toam, Andrew Haeremai, a single man, aged 33, who was employed by Mr. Lloyd Hammond, at Rata, reports the Bulls correspondent of 1 ‘ Tho Times. ” Haeremai, who had been called on to play in order to make up a full team for Rata, was hurt about 30 minutes after the first spell opened. Deceased was endeavouring to get tho ball off the ground in a loose rush whou he collided with a Bulls player, falling unconscious to tho grond. He was immediately attended by Dr. Watson, tho latter ordering his removal to Wanganui hospital, but tho unfortunate man died in the ambulance en route. Tho garno was by no means rough and was being contested in a very friendly spirit. Tho police at a late hour on Saturday night had been unable to get in touch with his relatives who are believed to resido in Ivaikohe, North Auckland.
