Wairau Massacre Sequel
FURTHER INFORMATION CONFIRMS RECENT DISCOVERY P6r Press Association. BLENHEIM, Last Night. Information given by the descendants of Te Ronga, the Mfeori woman whose death from a Britijh bullet led to the Wairau massacre, makes it practically certain that the skeleton found on the spur of Massacre Hill, overlooking the scene of the first clash between Te Rauparaha’a party and Captain Wakefield’s men is that of Te Ronga. Natives now state Te Ronga was buried n£Ar the spot where she was slain. It had been intended to remove the body later for burial probably in the North Island, but events after the massacre moved too quickly and the remains were jeft_jyh.gr q tJttjkTOA.buried.
