The latter replaced McVeagh, who was indisposed. Ireland was eliminated. At Scarborough, R. A. Shayes (Britain) defeated O. Schmidt (Rumania), 6—3, 6 —2, 6—2; C. Carolulis (Rumania) defeated C. M. Jones (Britain), 6—3, 6—2, B—6. At Zagreb, F. Puncec (Yugoslavia) beat L. Hecht (Czechoslovakia), 7—5, 6—3, 6 —3; R. Menzel (Czechoslovakia) beat J. Pallada (Yugoslavia), 6—2, G—2, 6—l; Menzel and Cejnar (Czechoslovakia) defeated Junec Mitic (Yugoslavia), 11—9, 3 —6, 9—7, 6 —2. At Schcveningen, Vonswol (Holland) defeated Destrcmeau (France), 6 C—o, B—6; Petra (France) defeated Hughan (Holland), 6—3, 6—2, 6—2. At Warsaw, J. Hebda (Poland) beat H. Ploughmann (Denmark), 6—2, 6—2, G— l; I. Tioczynski (Poland) beat Bekevold (Denmark), 6—2, 6—3, G—2; Tioczynski and Hebda (Poland) defeated Ulrich and Korner (Denmark), 6— 2, 6 3, 6—B, 6—3. Denmark was eliminated.
At Athens, La Croix (Belgium) defeated Sta'lios (Greece), 6—l, 6—2, 6—l; Nacyaert (Belgium) defeated Michailides (Greece), 6—o, 6 —4, 9 —7.
