Rugby in Te Kawau

ANNUAL MEETING OF SUB-UNION The adjourned annual meeting of the Te Kawau Rugby Sub-Union was held at Rongotea on Saturday evening when the president, Air. J. Q. Cameron, was in the chair. Other delegates present were: Messrs. H. Dixon, O. Gardiner (Rongotea), A. N. Alorcom (Rongotea), K. Lumsden (Sandon), C. Eades, D. Waller (Oroua Downs), J. Coulter (Sandon), aud the secretary, Air. S. L. Kent. At the outset the chairman, Mr. Cameron, said that football in the area had reached a very low ebb and the ques tion for the meeting to discuss was whether it was advisable to go into recess. Personally he would not like to see that happen. Following a general discussion, Air. A. N. Alorcom moved that this annual meeting be adjourned for a month, but it lacked a seconder. Air. H. Dixon moved that the Union carry on and that the fixtures for the first round be drawm up, Air. Coulter seconding the motion, which was carried.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: Patron, Air. A. N. Alorcom; president, Air. J. Q. Cameron (Oroua Downs); vice-presidents, Alessrs. H. J. Fagan, W. A. Davidson, Wilson Scott, E. J. Bowater and C. Eades; management committee, Alessrs. H. Dixon, C. Aliller and S. Howard; secretary-treasurer, Air. S. L. Kent; lion, auditor, Air. S. L. Orr; referee*, Messrs. J. Warren (Rongotea), AL Aloffatt aud L. Sim (Oroua Downs), M. Sanson and D. G. Hammond (Sanson); hon. medical officers, Air. F. J. Watson; hon. first aid officers, Alessrs. A. S. Reeve and C. Donovan; fixtures com mittee, Air. S. L. Kent. The affiliation fee was fixed at £l.

It was decided to commence tho Alclvelvie Shield competitions on Saturday, Alay 7, and the secretary was in structed to endeavour to arrange a match for the team drawing a bye each Saturday.

Application is to be made to the Alanawatu Rugby Union for the usual grant of £5 for tho fostering of school football. The next meeting of the subunion is to be held at Sandon on Alay 16.
