From Our own Correspondent. Young Farmers’ Club. There was a good attendance a'

monthly meeting of the Young Farmers’ Club on Tuesday evening. A letter was received from Air Simmons stating that he was unable to carry on the position of secretary. The chair was taken by Air D. Lynch, who thanked members for choosing him as their leader and expressed the hope that they would continue with tlio same enthusiasm as previously. It was decided to offer a prize for the one who could enroll the most new members,

Air Harrison offering to donate the prize. The competition will continue until the July meeting. Mr Height expressed the appreciation of members of the services of the president, Air Harrison, during the last two years and asked him to accept

a fountain pen with the Dest wishes of all present. Air l-larrison responded and gave his assurance that he would be only too pleased to help the club in every possible way. The president, chairman and secretary will attend the district annual meeting, which is to be held in Palmerston North on April 29. Air N. James is at present acting-secretary. Mr Galpin, of the Department of Agriculture, announced that the Aokautere young farm-

ers were desirous of belonging to a club, and invited the Linton members to attend a meeting to be held by Aokautere’s prospective members. He then went on to outline the 1200-mile bus tour which is being undertaken shortly. Several members signified their intentions of joining the tour, and it is understood that they, will be away for a fortnight. Air Galpin then informed the club that a seven-a-side football match between all the surrounding clubs was to be held at the Winter Show, and it was hoped that all clubs would place at least two teams on the oval. Several other interesting undertak-

ings were well in hand, of which more will be heard later. Members voiced their

appreciation and assured Air Galpin that they would co-operate with him and his assistants to carry through the forthcoming schemes. At the next meeting, Mr Robinson and Mr Laurenson will be invited to attend and outline the inter-club debating programme and assist members generally with debating.
