Polo Yankee Tournament

HIGH STANDARD OF PLAY Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Last Night. Play in the Opening matches of the Hawke’s Bay Polo Club’s annual Yankee tournament attained a high standard to-day. There was keen competition and most of the games were closely contested and several were fully up to New Zealand tournament standard. The results were as follow (handicaps in brackets) :—- Senior: Hawke’s Bay (scr) 6 lost to Poverty Bay (10) 10; Rangitikei (6) 6 lost to Waipawa (10) 13; Masterton A (6) 8 lost to Poverty Bay A (3) 12; Hawke’s Bay (scr) 6 beat Wallingford (3) 3. Junior: Hastings (scr) 8 beat Atua (4) 7; Taihape A (4) 12 drew with Tailiape B (12) 12; Waimarama (12) 12 lost to Masterton B (10) 26.
