He’s Just Left £303,852
An estate worth £303,825, left by a man who died in England recently, is disposed of in a will hurriedly drawn up on January 17, 1918. Details, it was stated, would have to stand over until after the war. The will is that of Mr. Philip Arthur Cohen, of Mount street, London, W., and of The Beach hotel, Littlehampton, Sussex. He died at the age of seventyone. A codicil w T as made ca March 27, 1918, and again on April 18, 1921, the latter stating: * ‘Owing to sudden illness I have not had the opportunity of making a properly considered and full new will and find myself therefore compelled instead to add somewhat hurriedly a codicil to my will, adjusting things more or less to the present situation and outlook." He desire nlegatees to be informed of this and expressed a wish to be buried wearing his snake ring and with his locket round his neck. To the Earl of Medina—now the Marquis of Milford Haven—is left £20,000, books, picture- and curios—suitable for a collection—and a stock of wines; and to the Countess of Medina is left £SOO. Their daughter, Lady Tatiana Mountbatten, inherits £5,000 on attaining twenty-one years, or marrying. She will be twenty-one this year. Lord Louis Mountbatten - ceives £3OO. Among his numerous bequests is £2,000 upon trust or his father's old butler, Thomas Randall. Sir Benjamin Cohen, K.C., of Champtons, Limpsfield, Sussex—cousin of Mr. Cohen—told the Daily Mirror:— "Mr. Cohen never married. He devoted his life to his art collections. He was a great personal friend of the Marquis of Milford Haven."
