Fines and Penalties

PALMERSTON NORTH MAGISTRATE’S COURT Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court sitting in Palmerston North yesterday. H. K. Simpson was fined £3 with 19s J costs for driving a lorry without due ’care and attention. In passing a parkJcd car he damaged the mudguard and I did not stop. R. A. Burt wis fined £3 with 10s costs for failing to give way to traffic on the right. The charge was the result of a collision with another car at the intersection of Roberts line with the Bunnythorpe-Kairanga road. A fine of £2 with 10s costs was imposed on T. A. Daley for dangerous driving and £1 with 10s costs for having no warrant of fitness. | Driving without a license cost G. N. I Greer 10s with 10s costs. | G. A. Perreau, charged with driving f without due care and attention, was I fined £1 with costs £1 14s Gd. Riding bicycles at night without lights cost M. Levy and D. McTaggart 10s with 10s costs each. G. R. Palenski paid a^penalty of £2 with 13s costs for crossing a railway line in front of a train. A. E. Burgess and K. Mason were each fined 10s with £1 0s Gd costs for tailing to register poultry runs. D. G. Riddiford was fined £1 with 27s costs lor driving without due care and attention. The charge was the sequel of a collision between two cars in Broadway. Edward H. Armstrong, in arrears with maintenance due his wife to the extent of £205 Ss, was ordered to reduce the amount at the rate of 10s a week in default 3 months gaol.

Mervin Vivian Johnson was sentenced to 2 months gaol for being £3O in arrears with maintenance due his child but the warrant will be suspended so long as 5s a week is paid off the arrears.

Henry James Baker, in arrears with maintenance due his wife to the extent of £1 17s was ordered to reduce the amount at the rate of 5s per week or go to gaol for one month.
