NOT TO SEEK RE-NOMINATION
Decision of Feilding’s Mayor Members of the deputation of citizens who waited on the Mayor of Feilding (Mr. T. Collins) on Thursday last met on Monday morning to receive through Mr. A. J. Humphreys the Mayor’s decision not to accept nomination for a further term. There were present at the meeting yesterday morning Messrs. V. E. Smith, J. S. Tingey, C. M. Sargisson, J. J. (Sandbrook, E. Fair, A. (J. McCorkindale, G. J. Fitzpatrick, T L. Seddon, P. G. Guy, J. C. Hill, E. Goodbehere, J. G. Eliott, G. Darragh, C. Hausmann and A. J. Kellow Mr. Humphreys stated that he had to report that he had had a telephone call from Mr. Collins on Sunday night, when Mr. Collins informed him that he had made up his mind to adhere to his first resolution not to accept nomination. Prior to the receipt of that intimation some members of the deputation had considered it desirable to call another meeting, and that meeting had been called for yesterday morning, the circular having been sent out on Friday last. In view of Mr. Collins’ decision, the object of the meeting no longer existed aud the business would be, he suggested, simply to receive the Mayor’s reply. Mr. Humphreys then submitted the following letter to be sent to the Mayor: “Following your ’phono message of last night, I have reported your decision to decline nomination for tho mayoralty to members of the deputation which waited upon you. They desire to again express their appreciation of your past services to this community and the borough. Yours sincerely, A. J. Humphreys. ” On the motion of Messrs. Tingey and Hausmann, tho meeting unanimously approved of the sending of the letter.
