Takaro Bowling, Tennis And Croquet Club

NEW LEASE GRANTED BY CITY COUNCIL The Palmerston North City Council decided last night, following a recommendation by its works committee, that a new lease be granted the Takaro Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club in respect of the use of the lawns and greens on the following terms and conditions : (a) That tho council agrees to the termination of the existing tenancy on March 31, 1938, and to forego any claim for rent under the old lease as from the date mentioned. (b) That the council shall not be liable for any expenses on or after April 1, 1938. (c) That the club be granted a new lease for a period of five years from April 1. 1938, at a rental of £1 per annum, the club to undertake the maintenance of the grounds to the satisfaction of the city curatv*. (d) That the council grant the club the sum of £IOO as a contribution towards the cost of improving tho greens, the work to be carried out under the supervision of Mr. T. Horton and to the satisfaction of the city curator. That such grant be made available as fol[ows: —The sum of £SO on production by the club of receipts covering expenditure for £75, including wages; the balance of £SO on the production of receipts for a further sum of £73.
