Wedding

JEFFRIES—CHRISTENSEN. A wedding of some Interest was solemnised in the Methodist Church, Eketahuna, on Saturday, March 5. when Miss Alma Joyce Christensen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Lauritz C. Christensen, of Putara, was married to George William Jeffries, son of Mr and Mrs Edward J. J. Jeffries, of Wellington. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. S. Hindmarsh and Miss Muriel Smith officiated at the organ. After the ceremony at the church about fifty friends and relatives of the bride and groom took part in a very fine breakfast at the home of the bride’s grandmother, Mrs L. C. Christensen, senr., who although S 8 years of age journeyed to Eketahuna to be present at tbe ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore white silk lace over a gown of satin and a white headdress. There were two bridesmaids, Edna Christensen, sister of the bride, and Muriel Jeffries, sister of the bridegroom. They were attired in pale pink lace over pink satin organdie and wore pink headdresses. The bride, bridesmaids and flower-girls carried beautiful bouquets, which came from Wellington. Mr Lauritz Christensen, brother of the bride, acted as best man and Mr Leslie Christensen was groomsman. After the reception a dance- was held at the Putara school. This was attended by many of the local residents, and many of the guests came from far afield, West Coast, Taumarunui, Lower Hutt, Wellington and Christchurch.
