Late Mr. F. J. Nathan

ROTARY CLUB’S TRIBUTE ‘‘Members will deeply regret thi death of Past-President F. J. Nathan, who was tho foundation president of the club, and whose valuable service* in tho formation and early life of th* club were characteristic of the wholehearted service which, he devoted i* so generous measure towards the community and public life of this city/' states the weekly circular of the Palmerston North Rotary Club. “The club owes a great deal for its inception to the confidence and enthusiasm of the late Mr. Nathan in whose office and presence most of the foundation members were interviewed by Rotarian Fowlds and Rhodes and tenta-« lively enrolled. Then a formal meeting held in the old Council Chambers under the combined chairmanship of those two gentlemen, and MrNathan formally launched the club His greatest service, however, was in the latter half of 4iis year as president, when he realised that if the club was to be perpetuated much had to be done. Ho then devoted great effort to the formulation of an organisation for the club which has proved to have been of inestimable value in the years that have followed. His interest, while his health permitted, never waned, and his fearless and salutary criticism of matters that he considered merited it has been! of the utmost benefit to the club. Mr. Nathan will be sadly missed in our community.”
