Aviation Mishap at Milson
UNFORTUNATE ENDING TO NIGHT FLYING TESTS. There was an unfortunate termination to night flying tests that were being carried out by the Aliddlc Districts Aero Club on Thursday night at Alilson, Pilot Alaurico AlcKenzie, of Palmerston North, misjudging landing distance to crash, the club's moth plane ZK —ABA. Night flying is part of the requirements for B licenses and starting at about 8 p.m., a number of pilots flew the machine successfully. AlcKenzie had also made half a dozen accurate landings with the aid of the regulation flares and was on the last flight of the night when the mishap occurred, the time then being about 11.15 p.m. He hit the ground too soon and the machine turned over on its back to break the propcllor and damage both wings and the tail. The pilot crawled out of the cockpit unhurt except for a cut over the eye.
