Napier Watersiders Resume

TELEGRAM TO PRIME MINISTER Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Last Night. The stoppage of work on the waterfront at Napier ended to-day, when all the gangs returned to worn at 1 p.m., but the dispute concerning the payment of wages fdr Saturday and Wednesday last has not yet been settled. The national disputes committee sat at Napier all day without reaching a basis for agreement. The chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, Air. T. AI. Geddis, sent the following message to the Prime Alinister, Rt. Hon. Al. J. Savage, and Hon. W. E. Barnard, member for Napier: “The continuation of the waterside trouble threatens to cause large quantities of exports to bo diverted to Wellings, also overseas vessels due here are likely to be diverted. The position is really serious, and 1 would respectfully urge that everything possible be done Ito restore normal operations on the waterfront without delay.”
