The Rev. C. Irving Benson is tlie guest of Air. and Airs. T. R. Hodder, Alan street, for the week-end. Air. W. O'Connor, headmaster of the Christchurch Normal School since 1935, has been appointed an inspector of native schools in the Education Depart ment, stationed in Wellington. Rev. Michael Underhill, curate of Alillom Parish, Cumberland, will leave for New Zealand in Alarcli. Air. Underhill has been at Alillom for the last two years and is leaving for tlie Dominion at the request of the Bishop of Wellington. Air. L. W. Wales, West Australia, is visiting his brother, Air. J. Wales, Waikakiki, Carterton* the former’s arrival marking the first meeting of the brothers since their return from the war. Air. L. W. Wales is engaged in tho dairy industry at Brunswick Junction, West Australia. Hon. F. Waite, AI.L.C., will be one of the New Zealand representatives at the Empire primary producers' conference to be held in Sydney. There will also be representatives at the conference from England and Scotland. Canada, Rhodesia, South Africa and Australia. At a meeting of the committee of the Alanawatu Trotting Club on Wednesday evening the president (Air W. Alouldey) referred to the death of Air F. J. Nathan, who had been one of the early presidents of the club and always an enthusiastic member. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried in silence. Professor J. Ruukine Brown, Professor of Classics at Victoria University College, Wellington, who has been abroad for several months, returned to Wellington by the Tainui. He spent, some time at his Alma Alater, the Uni- , versity of St, Andrews, and also visited Glasgow University, where he was on the staff before coming to New Zealand as a foundation professor of Victoria College.
