Social Evening for St. Peter’s Tennis Club
Miss Sheila Heath acted in the capacity of a very capable hostess last week when she entertained a number of friends at her home in Featherston street, Terrace End. The obect of the evening was to raise funds for the St. Peter's Tennis Club (of which she is an energetic member), to enable them to improve their courts. The evening was spent in dancing, games and competitions In the large living room which had been specially decorated for the occasion. Among the couples who won prizes for the novelty dance s were the following: Statue dance, Mr. and Mrs. J. Paul; Monte Carlo, Miss D. Jeffree and Mr. R. Wright. Miss J. Christian carried off the prize for the lpcky parcel game. An exhibition dance was given by Miss J. Clout and Mr. S. Small (Wellington). A burlesque dance was given by Miss J. Christian and Miss V. Churchouse. Popular tunes were played by Miss S. and Mr. G. Heath. Mrs. C. Rowbotham delighted the company with her songs and was accompanied by Mr. S. Rowbotham. Messrs. J. Paul and W. Sigglekow were the pianists for the dancing.
Among those present were: Mesdames C. Rowbotham, J. Paul and G. Hastings- Misses V. Churchouse, J. Christian, S. Heath, D. Jeffree, J. Clout, C. George, J. Winter, P. McCarty; Messrs. G. Heath, W. Sigglekow, R. Wright, J. Lavi, S. O. Small (Wellington), J. Corley and P. Stevenson (New Plymouth), and P. Little (Napier). Apologies were received from Misses C. Kneebone, I. Christian, C. Mitchell and Mr. Hastings who were unable to be present.
