G. A. Monk Chosen for Otaki PALMERSTON CANDIDATES IN PINAL GALLOP From Our Own Correa Don dent. LEVIN, Feb. 23. The National Party candidate for the Otaki electorate was selected last night at a meeting of the party’s branch delegates in the Anglican Hall, Otaki. There were/88 delegates present, and Mr. John Barclay in the chair. The three nominees were Messrs. E. Windley, F. E. Trim and George A. Monk. Mr. Windley withdrew before the selection w r as made and the result of the ballot was that Mr. Honk Fas selected as the candidate for the district. The meeting was a most enthusias tic one, and addresses of a very interesting nature were given by both Mr. Monk and' Mr. Trim. Supper was afterwards partakn of, during which further matters of interest were discussed . FINAL ADDRESSES BY PALMERSTON NORTH TRIO Last evening the three nominees for Nationalist honours in Palmerston North, Messrs. A. E. Mansford, J. A. Nash and M. H. Oram, addressed a capacity audience in the Empire Hall. Each speaker reviewed his career of public service and was accorded an attentive hearing. It was announced that ballot papers were being posted out to all members of the party in Palmerston North and that the count would be taken on March
BAY OF ISLAND 3 SEAT. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Feb. 23. Mr. W. Grounds announces that ho will contest the Bay of Island’s teat as an Independent at the General Election. He is a past chairman of the Dairy Board and North Auckland Dairy Conference, and at present is chairman of the Hokianga Dairy Co. Last election h© polled heavily as an Independent against Mr. Coates in Kaipara.
