BAUhUCB-BHEET PRESENTED Ok Tuesday •veniug the stewards of the Pahiatua Rating Club met, when the secretary presented the financial statement of the recent meeting. Thoee preeent were Messrs. D. Kelly (chairman), A. S. Bentley, J. Beech, G. Scale*, D. Bicksxell, B. Draper, C. H. Hodginj, lan Taylor, E. J, Smith, E. L. Harvey, S, T. Tinnev, P, J, Lloyd and $. H. Lett. The Pahiatua Horse Sports Glub sought permission, to use the racecourse proper for two racing events for thear next meeting on Easter Monday.— Messrs. B. J. Smith and Hodgins moved that the request be granted, but Messrs, entley and Beech put forward a modifying proposal whereby the club should be granted the use of the course, but the track committee considered the course was too wet and it should be flagged, on the inner so as to keep the horses to the outside. They also proposed that the club make a deposit of £lO before the sports to cover any damage. In the event of no damage being done £5 would be returned and £5 retained for the use of the club's property. After considerable thought this was agreed to. The balance-sheet disclosed a very satisfactory position and accounts amounting to £329 Is 5d were passed for payment. The president paid a tribute to the stewards for their co-operation both prior to and during the recent meeting. Mr. B. J. Smith eulogised the president, whose health was .duly honoured. It was agreed to meet at the course shortly to go into the question of improving the foreground of the granditand.
