Obituary

MR. WALTER SYMONS Mr. Walter George Thomas Symons, of Park stret, Foxton, passed away in Palmerston North Hospital this week. Mr. Symons was involved in an accident with a motor-car in Lady's Mile about three weeks ago, but it was not thought at the time that he had suffer-, ed any serious injury. On Sunday morning, however, he was taken suddenly ill and rushed to hospital, and his condition became gradually worse and he passed away at a lato hour on Tuesday night. Deceased was born in Foxton in 1878 at what was known as Herston farm, Whirokino. Ho received his education at the local State school and afterwards engaged in farming parents and for a time was associated with fiaxmilling locally. Although he never took an active interest in local body affairs, he was always interested in the community in which he had spent his whole life, and was ever willing to assist in any movement for its betterment. He was keenly interested in sport in all its branches, and devoted many hours to fishing. Mr. Symons is survived by his widow, one son, Mr. W. Symons, of Palmerston North, and one daughter, Miss M. Symons, of Foxton. Ho was predeceased by all his brothers, Messrs. C. H., John, James, and Arthur Symons, and one sister Mrs. G. Johnson. There are six sisters: Mesdames M. Collins (Hastings), A. and A. J. Toogood (Wellington), C. Robinson and M. Frankland (Foxton) and Miss E. Symons (Wellington).
