From Our Own Correspondent. Guide Committee. A meeting of Guides and members of the committee of the Guides’ Association was held on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs H. V. Caverh 11 presiding. The resignation of Mrs J. Aird Senr., was read, Mrs Caverhill mentioning that this was occasioned by Mrs Aird now having taken up residence in Palmerston North, and it was with regret that the committee had to accept her re signation. Mrs Aird had at all times proved a very willing helper for anything connected with the Guides and all felt that tney had lost a staunch supporter and that appreciation of her past work should be voiced. The balance sheet in connection with the garden party was then read, and it was very gratifyng that the large sum of £29 3s was cleared from this function. It had ben a tremendous success, both socially and financially, and the Guide Captain, Miss Lorna Davis, expressed thanks on behalf of the Guides to all the parents and members of the committee. The secretary, Miss E. Knight, stated that the finances of the Guide Association Committee showed a small credit balance. However, Mrs A. J. Will would be holding an afternoon party a little later on and it was hoped that this would bri fig in enough to carry them through another year’s work. Miss Davis then gave a full report and balance sheet of the recent Guide camp held at Resolution Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound. This had proved a tremendous success, and the Guides had had a wonderful fortnight under canvas. The parents present at the meeting all expressed their pleasure at the wonderful time their girls had experienced, and thanked Miss Davis for the real sisterly interest which she had taken in all of her Guides. The president mentioned that it would be necessary to fill the vacancy left o l the committee by the resignation of Mrs Aird, and Mrs H. E. Fieldhouse wa;s elected in her stead.
