Members are reminded of the garden party to be held at Mrs Demies’ residence on the 23rd, instant, at 1.30 p.m. An effort is being made to raise funds by a jumble stall, which members are asked to support. M esdames L. G. Rose and D. Jones will be in charge of the stall. Mesdames Kreger and Meads and two others will be the hostesses. Methodist Church. Mrs G. Rose presided over the monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Guild. Mrs E. G. Billinghurst gave a reading, and impromptu speeches proved entertaining. One new member was; welcomed. Rain somewhat marred an enjoyable afternoon which had been arranged at “Glen Tui,” the home of Mr and Mrs F. Billinghurst, last Saturday afternoon. However, games and competitions were arranged inuide, and a jumble stall did brisk business. The circuit will benefit by the sum of approximately £4. Mr W. H. Billinghurst, of Mangaweua, won the quoits, and Mrs E. Pearson and Rev. Coombridge the bean throwing. Mr F. Billinghurst had donated the trophies for these competitions. The afternoon closed with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Billingh urst for the use of their house and garden. Personal and General. The heaviest rain experienced throughout the district for some years was that whuch fell last Saturday arternoon. The rain was accompanied by strong gusts of wind, and thunder and lightning. Mr Kirton has commenced duties at the school, which commenced this year with a roll number of 63. A ’bus service will be run to Mangarimu from March 3, which will b ring the number attending to over seventy. Mr and Mrs P. E. Jewell, and Miss Helen, are spending their annual holiday at the Parai araumu beach.' Miss E. Sherson, of Taumarunui, is visiting Mrs J. Boshier.
