PAHIATUA BRANCH MEETS Last week marked the re-opening of the Pahiatua branch of the W.D.F.U. It was held in the County Council rooms, Mrs. W. F. Day presiding over a fair attendance. An apology for absence was received from Mrs. W. Gilbert. It was arranged to hold next month’s meeting at 1.30 p.m. in order to give members an opportunity to attend the Presbyterian garden fete. Mrs Wickham, of Wanganui, a Dominion vice-president, is to be invifed to attend the annual meeting to be held in April. Mrs. Day gave an interesting report of the recent provincial meeting. A remit which proposed increasing the housekeepers’ salaries from 30s to 35s per week was supported by this branch.

Invitations were received from the Mastcrton branch to bo present on March 16 when Miss Kathleen Courtney, a world-famous speaker, will be present. Mrs. Day said that she hoped that several car-loads of members would be able to go through to Masterton on that day. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs. Day urged all members to endeavour to attend the monthly meetings, and not to leave them to committee members only.
