“Hoity Toity” Revue Co,
Among the many items in the varied programme presented by Connors and Paul in their new Anglo-American Revue “Hoity-Toity,” which commences a short season at the Opera House on Saturday, 19th February, with a matinee performance, is the “Fan” Dance by Mdlle. Paulette. This offering has created quite a mild sensation during the recent Sydney season, Paulette being the only true exponent of this much discussed dance to ever visit Australia and New Zealand, she having come direct from the “Moulin Rogue” Ballroom, Paris. Mike McCormick, a youthful Irish lad who is aptly described as having “rubber legs”; his “Buck and Wing” dancing making him a great favourite.
Moran and Wiser, a newly imported American team of jugglers and hat spinners have created a furore everywhere for their dexterity in achieving the almost impossible, at the same time interspersing a full complement of buffoonery throughout their performance. Syd. Beck, Australian comedian, well remembered here four years ago has a cargo of new wholesome jokes (and a lot of mispronounced jokes i.e., Egypt as egg wiper, etc., while the Seven Flying Elmars in their thrilling acrobatics, the 4 K’s with an artistic musical act Peggy Kerr, with her golden voice; June and Ginger, who dance through flames; Cecil Scott, matinee idol; Davona and Paula Adagro, dancers; “Just Dave” contortion* istic “scare crow” dancer, together with a full company of specially selected revue artists, orchestra of 10 and full beauty chorus, all help to maintain a fast-moving show of 21 hours. Box plan opens at Collinson and Cunninghame’s to-day.
