Store Sheep Harder at Waipukurau LAMBS SELL WELL From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPUKURAU, Feb. 15. Another sound market showing « hardening tendency ruled for store sheep at Waiukpurau to-day, when manv lines made dear buying- Despite the good values offered certain lines were passed. Lambs sold readily at prices which showed an improvement cn late sales. White-faced woolly wether lambs of! high country and not suitable for fat tening this season but should carry ovei well, brought 17/2. Better-grown shon similarly bred lar’s off high country brought 17/6, while smaller grown made 15/6. Most of the pens of breeding ewes were very poorly mouthed, being doubtful breeding propositions. These met with a keen demand to mak« the dearest buying of the day. Very little interest was taken in the offering of cattle which consisted of a small entry of mixed sorts, few ol which showed any quality. The cows in the fat pens were a poor lot, being aged and unfinished. The chief entries in the store cattle pens were breeding calves at foot which sold at satisfactory rates to £7 11/-. Many of the calves were very late, which affected the selling. Empty cows in good order and including some in killable order brought £6. The miscellaneous lots were generally very badly bred to make dear buying. Realisations were as under:— FAT SHEEP. A pen of plain quality heavy ewe* brought 16/-. A small offering of prime 2-th ewe* sold at 23/-. A pen of 14 white-faced woolly lambs in medium order made IP/3. Off the same property, 35 Down-cross lambs, which could stand a little more finish, made 19/6. Fifteen wethers which could stand more weight brought 21/6. STORE SHEEP. An entry of 142 small-grown 4-th to 4-yr ewes, in light condition, made a slow sale at 23/-. In from Tamumu Station, 369 fairlygrown white-faced woolly wether lambs, In medium condition, bright and healthy, and should bo a good carry-over proposition, were passed at 17/2. An entry of 213 small-grown woolly white-faced wether lambs, in light order, made a good sale at 14/5. In from the back country, a draft of early-shorn well-grown white-faced lambs, in forward order, a good line, brought 18/3. A further entry of 181 early-shorn white-faced wether lambs, quite wellgrpwn and Mangaorapa bred, in healthy good-doing order, sold at 15/4. On account of Mr C. R. Bidwill, Totara Hills, an offering of mediumgrown eaerly-shorn 2-th ewes in good order realised 30/-. On account of Mr J. L. Hunter, an entry of 5-year ewes, quite well framed, poorly-mouthed and in light condition, brought 20/-. A line of 6-year ewes, very poorly mouthed but carrying good condition, made very dear buying at 19/1. A further line of six-year ewes, also poorly mouthed, some not showing good udders, were passed at the good figure cf 17/9. At this price they would hive been dear buying. Down from Whakarara, a line of woolly white-faced wether lambs, only medium grown, a fair rape line, were passed at 16/9, which would have made good selling Off rough country and smothered In seeds, a line of medium-grown shorn white-faced wether lambs, which should do well in low country, made 15/6. An offering of down-cross lambs, medium grown, useful for putting on to rape was passed at 17/11. A line of store ewes in hard condition, a very doubtful fattening proposition. sold well at 14/6. CATTLE. Nine unfinished Hereford-cross cowr. medium framed and plain in quality, requiring a food paddock for some time were passed at £6 4/-. A single medium-framed well-finish-ed Aberdeen Angus cow, in good order and should hang up well, brought £7 10/-. Two medium-framed Aberdeen Angu& cross heifers, prime finished, an entry of good quality young beef, made good buying at £8 5/6. An offering of 22 aged Hereford and Aberdeen Angus cows in light condition and mixed cross, 20 calves at foot, many of which were late born, brought £6 2/6. Down from Whakarara, 43 mixedbred empty cows, many in forward condition and killable, sold at £6. These cows were a good fattening line and sold well.

Down from Ngawaka Station, 20 Aberdeen Angus cows with 21 well-bred calves at foot brought £7 11/-. These cows were a good breeding line and had done their calves welL An entry of 30-months old Jersey - cross steers, in good store order, brought to £7. A 4-th calver Jersey cow, due In twe weeks, brought £5 17/6.
