A traffic tally is to be taken by the Highways Board at Allen's bridge, on the Makuri road, from January 26 to February 2, 1938. The Pahiatua County Council will be celebrating at the end of the year its golden jubilee. At the recent county meeting, the clerk, Mr. J. Hutton, intimated that the Gazette notification of the county was made on October 18, 1888, and that the first meeting was held on November 28, 1888. The council agreed that some suitable function l»e held to mark the occasion and the chairman, Cr. Hodgins, and the clerk were appointed a committee to make the preliminary arrangements. One thousand dog collars were needed for the Pahiatua county and 130 were used by the Pahiatua Borough Council for the 1938 registration.
