Dr. A. J. Cronin’s latest novel, “The Citadel,” which Tan into three editions in the first week of its publication, ranks as the most sensational and much discussed best seller since "All Quiet on the Western Front.” Immediately the success was known in America there was the keenest competition to acquire the film rights by the major producing companies. The film rights have been bought by Victor Saville and the film will shortly be made at Denham studios and presented by Alexander Korda. Dr. Cronin is convinced that his book, which deals with controversial aspects of the English medical profession, should be made in England and he is delighted that it will be directed by Victor Saville, who has recently completed “South Riding,” another great film based on a novel of English life.
