Feilding Telephone System
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SEEKS MODERNISATION
Modernisation of Feilding’s telephone exchange system was sought at last night’s meeting of the Feilding Chamber of Commerce. The chair was occupied by Mr. A. J. Humphreys, and also present were Messrs. H. P. Simmonds, O. M. Sargisson, P. G. Guy, H, J. Williams, V E. Smith and G. J. Fitzpatrick. The chamber decided to renew itz application to the P. and T. Department for the installation of a public telephone box on the corner of Nelson street.
A committee consisting of Messrs. Humphreys, Smith and Fitzpatrick waz set up to bring down a report on the existing telephone system in Feilding with the object in view of procuring a more modern service.
A letter was received from the Feilding A. and P. Association asking the chamber to endeavour to arrange for a half day holiday on People’s Day at the forthcoming show. The matter was referred to the retailers’ committee.
The secretary, Mr. Fitzpatrick, waa instructed to convey Christmas greet-* ings to officers of public departments. The meeting concluded with an exchange of seasonal greetings between the chairman and members, Mr. Sargiason, a vice-president, reciprocating to the chairman on behalf of the meeting.
