CONTINUATION OF PROTECTION (British Official Wireless.) Received Friday, 7 p..m RUGBY, October 28. Tho Cinematograph Films Bill, which was presented in the House of Commons, continues the protection afforded the British film production industry by the Cinematograph Films Act, 1927. Part one of the Bill provides that renters of films must acquire, and exhibitors must show, a certain proportion of British films annually for a further period of ten years. This quota increases during the ten-year period by stages from 15 to 30 per cent, for long films, and from 10 to 20 per cent, lor short films. The Bill introduces for the first time a separate quota for short films.
